Our biodynamic practices

In addition to being a Certified Organic farm, we employ biodynamic practices.

Biodynamics is a holistic approach to farming and gardening that emphasizes the interconnectedness of soil, plants, animals, and the cosmos. Developed in the early 20th century by philosopher Rudolf Steiner, biodynamic practices aim to create a self-sustaining agricultural ecosystem that promotes healthy soil, vibrant plants, resilient biodiversity, and a spiritual connection between the garden and the gardener.

At the heart of biodynamics is the understanding that healthy soil is the foundation for thriving plants and in turn, human health. We use specially prepared composts and herbal teas, known as biodynamic preparations, which enhance soil fertility and leverage cosmic forces. By incorporating these preparations into our soil mix, we are able to create nutrient-dense and robust seedlings that support the health of your garden and you.

Biodynamic gardening also encourages a deep connection to the rhythms of nature and the greater cosmos. We do our best to work in harmony with lunar cycles and cosmic rhythms, which enhance plant growth, vitality, and nutrition. We think you'll notice this difference in our seedlings and the corresponding influence in your garden.
